COSCA surveyed 150 clan and family websites to determine the number of societies that offered life memberships and at what levels. Of those, about half (70) published specific levels for lifetime memberships and the other half either did not have such membership levels or did not make the levels publicly available. Eight clan and family societies offered multiple-year memberships without a specific lifetime membership.
Of the 70 societies with a lifetime membership, 31 set a flat rate that ranged from $175 to $1,000. The remaining 39 societies offered a range of levels that were based primarily on age. Some examples included:
Clan Campbell Society, North America: 18 - 39 Years $1,050; 40 - 64 Years $700; 65 - 69 Years $525; and 70+ Years $350.00.
