Served as Lord Chamberlain in the Royal Household of Queen Elizabeth II
Chief of the Name and Arms of Ogilvie, the Earl of Airlie was born on the May 17, 1926. His godfather was King George V, and he served as a page to his father at the Coronation of King George VI in Westminster Abbey in 1937. He was educated at Eton, before serving in the Scots Guards during the Second World War. In 1984, he was apointed as Lord Chamberlain in the royal household. Ogilvy helped Queen Elizabeth bolster her popularity by paying tax in subsequent years, and by helping her meet most of Windsor Castle’s restoration costs.
