Robin Neill Lochnell Malcolm, 19th Laird of Poltalloch, died peacefully at home on March 2, 2024.
With great sadness, the Clan MacCallum – Malcolm Society of North America announces the death of their Clan Chief, Robin Neill Lochnell Malcolm, 19th Laird of Poltalloch. He was born on February 11, 1934, as the second and surviving son of Colonel George Ian Malcolm, 18th of Poltalloch (1903-1976), and his first wife Enid Sybil Gaskell. During the Second World War from 1940 to 1944, he and his sister Bridget lived in America. He was later educated at Eton and the North of Scotland College of Agriculture. He enlisted and served as a Second Lieutenant in the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. In 1962, he married Susan Hillary Phillipa Freeman (1939-2004) with whom he had four children: Ian Rory Malcolm of Poltalloch (born 19630; Kirsty Elizabeth Malcolm (1964); Andrew Neill Malcolm (1965); and Josephine Clare Malcolm (1969.) In 2010 he married Patricia Currie. He has raised cattle and sheep on the 5,000 acre Poltalloch estate and has served as a Justice of the Peace and Vice Lord Lieutenant.
The funeral is scheduled for March 15 at St Columba's, Poltalloch, with a private cremation on the next day. The eldest son, Ian Rory, succeeds as 20th of Poltalloch, and hereditary Chief of the Clan Malcolm.
