Clan Barclay International Mourns the Loss of Chief Peter, the Barclay of Towie Barclay and of that Ilk. He died peacefully at home on 2nd November 2023. The Barclay was born in Rome, Italy, on 26 February 1938, where his father, Lieutenant-Colonel Walter Patrick Barclay of the Black Watch was Assistant Military Attaché. Educated at Eton College, Peter Barclay completed his National service with the Black Watch, serving in Germany and Scotland. In 1967, he succeeded his second cousin, Theodore Bruce de Tollie Barclay, as Chief of the name Barclay. Peter was a Life Member of the National Trust of Scotland and a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Carpenters. He was the much-loved twin brother of Penny and uncle to Annabelle and Jeremy.
